Alright, now that we have more than fifty nominees, the nomination phase is closed. This happened quite a bit quicker than I thought it would so I’m gonna go ahead and move the opening of the polls up to tomorrow at noon.

I thought seriously about doing a couple of rounds, winnowing the numbers down to ten or so, but hell, if California can put a couple hundred candidates for the highest office in the state on one ballot, why can’t we have sixty candidates in a lousy blog poll? Perhaps California electoral procedure isn’t something to emulate, but oh well, we’re going to copy it again anyway. The procedure for the order of the ballot in a California recall can be found in helpful explainer from Slate and we’ll be following it. Basically, the ballot will be in randomized alphebetical order, so it will go A, B, C, but it will probably start with H at the top rather than A. Right on, mixing a senseless popularity contest with a civics lesson.

Wow, I’ve still got it. “It” being the ability to pull lots of hits, comments, and criticism with a stupid, navel gazing poll. Alright, this lack of traffic is truly sucking. It’s mostly my fault, I haven’t been posting anything good or original, but I’m stuck with a true lack of material. Nothing happens in August, and I can’t post about all that much going on in my own life because I’m afraid of alienating potential employers/girlfriends. So it’s once again time for a useless, ridiculous, extremely popular popularity contest!

Yep, that’s right, it’s the second annual poll for the Sexiest Female Blogger! Nothing from last year’s contest will be changed. Any female with a blog can play. I’m limiting the voting to the first fifty contestants, and I might split that into two divisions with the top five or so from each getting into the final round. Nominations will be taken starting now, and that round will close at midnight on Saturday the 16th. The poll will be up and voting will begin by noon on Monday the 18th. Polls will close on Thursday at midnight and a winner will be announced by noon on Friday.

A couple of rules: any blogger that doesn’t wish to participate merely has to email me and they will be dropped without any fuss. Pictures of the contestants are encouraged but certainly not necessary; this is primarily based on your blog and your writing. I ask that no one vote more than once, and I’ll have some vague security that won’t get in the way (one vote from each IP. I’d do a registration system so you get one vote per email address, but that’s a pain in the ass and is almost as easy to fool as the IP scheme. It’d really just be an excuse for me to play around with MySQL).

My only nomination will be Heather Havrilesky of the Rabbit Blog, last year’s runner-up. Check out her killer funny posts from last year. The top post and one on the 4th are both shameless shilling for votes. Let me assure you that just because Havrilesky is my favorite is no guarantee that she’ll win. She was one of my favorites last year and she came in second.
