Gandhi’s blog? It still sucks

Now the anti-Semite Gandhi has is referring to my post as “right-wing war-mongering squawk-box tactics.”

He thinks the last name Goldstein is a “motive,” but pointing out that that’s racist? A tactic.

If Gandhi wants to apologize for his statement about Jeff being a “Jew on the payroll” I might reconsider my belief that he’s a cretin.

RMBB 4.5

rmbb.4.5.beer.jpeGo over to Zomby’s place to RSVP for the next blogger bash. Also tell him to design a button that isn’t so big, this one looks ridiculous if you put it in a sidebar.

Hell, it looks ridiculous right here in the blog. I’m only writing this paragraph so that I have enough text to keep the thing from spilling into the next entry. I mean, what the fuck can you say about a blogger bash? We’ll have fun, get drunk, there will be at least three shouting matches that nearly come to blows.

Just trust me, it will be worth your time, so put it on your calendar.

Update: There, that’s better.

Bump: Time and location have been decided. It’s at the Denver branch of the Minturn Saloon, which sounds nice, at 7 pm on August 20th. Meet on the rooftop patio, weather permitting. If you’re interested, click the button and RSVP in Zombyboy’s comments.

A hateful attack

Hey, Gandhi… your blog sucks. I’m an agnostic who was born Catholic, so try to fit that into your conspiracy-addled mind, you anti-Semitic cretin.

(Oh, and learn how to spell anti-Semitic while you’re at it. Semite, Semitic, get it?)

Reality for the unreal

Has anyone bothered to tell Oliver that the tagline Like “Reality-Based” Kryptonite To Stupid makes no sense at all? Just as well, it tells you everything you really need to know about the sort of reality the “reality-based community” lives in.

RMBB 2.75 a success

Blogger BashDowntown was packed, and half those people seemed to be upstairs at the Wynkoop. This had to be the most diverse RMBB yet, though we still haven’t seen any social bloggers at one of our parties. By diverse I mean there were more women, and the age range was a lot wider than usual.

Everyone seemed to have a good time, I certainly did. I had to drive, so I didn’t drink very much and I’m feeling very refreshed this morning. I’m just waiting for Andy to call so I can take him to his car, then I’m going to Best Buy to pick up Pirates of the Caribbean.

Tonight’s the night

Blogger BashIf you think you can handle the traffic for the annual Parade of Lights, get to downtown Denver this evening for a bit of carousing with your favorite bloggers.

Beth, Andy, and I will be arriving early in an attempt to find parking, so we’ll be one hour drunk by the time everyone else gets their first beer. Whooo hooo!

Lileks tempts fate; Fanboys riot

James Lileks saw Revolutions, and he really, really doesn’t like AICN’s review of it. In fact, he doesn’t like Harry Knowles’ writing at all, and I totally agree with him. The guy can never just write a fargin’ review, he always has to make it mean something about the wider world, or it has to be very personal. So instead of a readable, three paragraph review that lets us know if we should wait for DVD we get long, turgid, meaningless rants that inform us about nothing at all.

Of course, Lileks is taking a much bigger chance of getting flamed by fanboys than I. He’s a brave man, or maybe his inbox is still over quota.

Another job lost over a blog

A printing shop temp has been fired by Microsoft for this post. Like Gregg Easterbrook, he was fired for a blog he kept outside of his job, and the reasons given may be a little inaccurate. They claimed he violated security, which he no doubt did. He says the picture itself was ok, but identifying where it was taken was a no-no. I know that at IBM even having a camera onsite required director approval, so I doubt that posting a picture of the Microsoft campus on the web is kosher.

But don’t you think it might have ticked off some exec when he implied that Microsoft employees would enjoy getting G5 on their desk? Anyway, he clearly understands that he made a mistake and should have been more careful. I know, having been a contractor a couple times, that temp employees are very easy to fire. Hell, in a right-to-work state like Colorado all employees are easy to fire, but there’s hella paperwork for a full-timer compared to a contractor at a big company like IBM.

Take this to heart: Be careful what you post, the Constitution’s guarantee of free speech does not constrain your employer* from doing whatever they want to you for anything you say.

*Unless, of course, your employer is the Federal Government. Then say whatever you will.

The Hokey Pokey

Great Bleat today in which Lileks asks one of the great questions of our age: What is the Hokey Pokey, anyway?

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around. Now, hold on, mister. Is the turning one
