Sure, dead was a exaggeration. But look at the list of plugins there... of the first three, two were written by actual Six Apart employees (one of them a co-founder) and the third costs $66 bucks for a non-commercial license.

Its just not the same as the grassroots, open source feel I get from WordPress... or from MT three or four years ago.

Well, other than the fact that one of the most prolific developers graduated from high school.

Really? I couldn't get either to work in MT4, but I've made a couple mistakes before.

If plugins are easier to develop in MT4 there must be some other reason that the plugin community for MT seems to have died.

Also, most of what you term "arcane" plugins should work with MT4 by default since MT4 only really broke plugins that provided their own interface (or hacked MT's interface). I know I'm using simple comments and regex on several MT blogs with no issue.

Hi there, just to clarify, the reason MT Blogroll wasn't updated was for a number of reasons. It was a vastly complex plugin that had taken a long time to write in the first place and MT4 gave us a tonne of new APIs to play with, which I did and released Link Roller (http://plugins.movalog.com/link-roller/). Of course, college plays a bigger part in my not updating my plugins.

Rest assured, had I time, I would most definitely want to spend more time with MT4. Being a developer, I know that developing plugins for Movable Type is not only more fun and easier but it is certainly more satisfying than developing plugins for WordPress!

But each to his own, I'm glad you're happy on WordPress :)
