Best Beach Boys song

What’s your favorite Beach Boys’ song? Mine would have to be “Good Vibrations,” followed closely by “Wouldn’t it be Nice?,” “God Only Knows,” and “I Know There’s an Answer.” Of course, almost everything on Pet Sounds is pure pop perfection.
(Inspired by the ruckus that this post caused. In that thread I placed the Beatles alongside Elvis and said that all other bands just followed their lead. I should have said, “All other bands but the Beach Boys.”)

The best ever Beach Boys song from my point of view? It was hard to decide, man, and I really enjoy all of their early stuff.
But my favorite was “Sloop John B”–that song is just a perfect song from where I sit.
California Girls. Indubitably.
…it’s just a fun song, good melody, classic riff, covered in a fun style by David Lee Roth in a video with lots of hot girls. What more could you ask?

Nope, Kingston Trio. But it’s still an awesome song, and obviously the Beach Boys did a huge amount of translation.

“Little Girl I Once Knew” is my favorite. It was a bridge between Today & Summer Days albums (especially side two of Today) and Pet Sounds. It was Dance, Dance, Dance on power boost. The breaks are classic, even though that led to less airplay and Capitol’s rush release of Barbara Ann. Brian used it to open his Live at the Roxy gig – listen and you’ll know why!
