This doesn’t scare me the way it does Bill. Amidala is going to die, and I’d expect them to milk that for all it’s worth. Hopefully Portman and Christensen have learned (or relearned) how to act since the last installment. If not, expect extreme suckitude.

When it comes to Portman, I think the problem is Lucas. An actor is going to try to give the director what he wants, and I don’t think Lucas could orchestrate a deep human drama if he tried.
They’re all like that, even otherwise fine actors like McGregor. Hell, even Samuel Jackson was boring! I think the lack of sets might not help either.
Also, in the trailer that kid totally looks like Rick Springfield.
I totally agree. McGregor, Jackson and Portman are all great in other movies, but completely lifeless in this one. Yet Christopher Lee is awesome.
I think Lucas might just have trouble with good actors. Look at the first movie, none of those guys are gonna win Oscars. Harrison Ford is the best of the bunch, and he’s pretty mediocre when you get right down to it. Course, they did have sets then, so I think Jim might be on to something.
Lee is a good actor, but I think he’s got an extensive B-movie background, so maybe he’s used to crappy sets and terrible directors.
