Drudge v. Rock
February 24th, 2005
I have to say I was surprised to see Drudge come out so strongly against Chris Rock hosting the Oscars. Rock has always struck me as a very conservative comic, and Slate agrees. I’d guess that Drudge and Rock agree on just about everything political except the hounding of Clinton re: knob polishing. And Drudge never struck me as some sort of prude ala Michelle Malkin on Kid Rock.
Plus, the Oscar ceremony doesn’t exactly require the same dignity as an inauguration party. This is the same ceremony that survived Letterman’s ridiculous Uma/Oprah joke, that Indian woman declining Brando’s statue, and Sally Fields’ gushing. It can handle a few off-color jokes, or even a bleeped out f-bomb or two.
