Atkins’ plateau

I haven’t posted about my diet recently, mainly because it’d be pretty monotonous, posting about eating the same stuff all the time, and also because I haven’t lost any weight in a while. I’m stuck at twelve pounds lost, I can’t seem to drop below two ten. Most likely it’s either alcohol, which I wasn’t drinking when I was losing weight, or coffee, which I also started on after the first two weeks. I’ve tried to stay away from high carb alcohol, having very little beer and absolutely no mixed drinks or margaritas.

I think I’ll cut back on the coffee and booze and see what happens this week.

    Ah, don’t kill yourself. You wouldn’t be Matt Motherfucking Moore if you weren’t on caffeine and alcohol. Stick to the regular regimen and put you weight in a spreadsheet every morning. Track your 10- and 21-day moving averages and you’ll see you’re still dropping pounds.

     
  2. Thanks, buddy. I take solace in the fact that I hadn’t weighed this little in about a year. And my waist keeps losing inches even though my weight is stuck.

  3. If the waist is going down even though the weight is plateaued (man that word looks weird) could be that you’re actually putting on muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, don’t forget, so you could end up being smaller than you were but actually weighing more.

     
  4. That’s what I’m hoping, and that’s one of the great things about doing a low carb, high fat diet. A lot of the other weight loss plans cut down your protein drastically so you end up using muscle mass for energy.
