Wow, what a cool day!
I’d forgotten how much fun running a popular poll was! I get tons of comments and emails, and this time around, trackbacks. I get to check my referrer logs for neat new blogs every hour. My traffic stats are through the roof (best day this month by one hundred and twenty visits, and it’s not even five o’clock yet!). I’m checking Daypop and blogdex obsessively since I’m pretty sure that the ten to twenty links I’ve picked up today should put me on the charts. Neato.
I’d also forgotten how much work it is. Pulling together all the names and links into lists of nominees ain’t that easy, and pretty soon I’m gonna have to start hacking the polling software together to take the votes. Now if only I could do all that while watching Buffy…
Why can’t I watch Buffy and blog at the same time? I’ve got a laptop and a WAP, I should be able to sit in front of the teevee. I could except that my laptop decided to fritz last night. First the Airport connection went down, it couldn’t even find the card. Then I reinstalled OSX and it started booting into the firmware and nowhere else. I ran all the hardware tests and gave up until this morning when the AppleCare people would be in.
When I called them everything started working except now it spit every CD I put in it right back at me. So I headed down to the Apple store in Cherry Creek with Beth in tow. They diagnosed a motherboard problem and shipped the sucker out to California to get fixed, so I won’t see it for four to five business days. Yuck.
But I did get a chance to look at the new iSight camera and the new iPods in person. I could take or leave the iSight, I don’t chat with anyone else who has one, but I want one of the thirty-gigger iPods, and I could really put a 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor to good use. I need a job.
