About a Boy

Wow, that Hugh Grant! I gotta say, he’s better when he’s at least slightly caddish (is that a word?). I actually really like Hugh Grant, ever since Four Weddings and a Funeral, otherwise known as The Movie that Andie McDowell Tried Very Hard to But was Unable to Ruin Even Though She was Incredibly Horrible. Good lord, I liked Notting Hill! I’m admitting it in public!

It seems shallow to mention it (especially since it is the one thing I mention in every movie review), but the women in this movie were pretty hot, too. Especially the first woman that Will used the single father act on, some chick named Victoria Smurfit (by Jebus, what a name!) who looked familar but that I’ve never heard of. Rachel Weisz is cute, too. It was a nice movie to see after The Ring, all happy, no death and creepy video shit. Well, not all happy, but it ends well.

I’m glad they skipped the kid’s girlfriend freaking out about Kurt Cobain, though. That really dated the book, even if it was written a couple (or more?) years after his death, it just seemed so nineties.

Now I’m off to watch another happy movie, this one super-duper no-holds-barred happy, Amelie.
