I turned traitor at home at bought myself a Gateway. It's been reasonably solid, but ME crashes too regularly to make me happy and the sound card (this machine is _just_ over a year old) just up and died the other day. I've removed and reinstalled the damned thing the way I'm supposed to, updated drivers, the whole damned thing--and it still won't work. Must be the hardware, not the softward. Shit. So, my house now has a mostly-functioning 1.1 ghz Gateway box, a hand me down 400 mhz PII that I saved from certain death and want to make into my own little MP3 server on a home network to house my 600+ CD's, and an old charcoal iMac Special Edition. Too much technology--when I have dates over, they overdose on geek chic, turn tail and run in sheer terror. Heheh. Luckily, my amazing charisma usually keeps them from abandoning me entirely (or, something like that). That's with me doing the fixing, and I hear that it's rather hard to get the case back together perfectly. If I sent it to Apple it would cost eight hundred minimum.
