Larry Elder on Dennis Miller

Just watched Larry Elder guest on Dennis Miller Live. When Elder started talking about the lack of application of the “Bush Doctrine” to Middle Eastern terrorism, I thought he was going to launch into an anti-Israel diatribe. Elder is black, and I assumed he was a paleo-liberal. I’m angry when I realize that I still classify people based on race.

Obviously, Elder went on to strongly defend Israel’s actions, and I’m a moronic bigot.

It also surprised me when the audience applauded his support of Israel. Pro-Israeli sentiments are quite strong in Blogdom, but I’ve always assumed that blog geeks were just, well, smarter than the general population. If you followed only television, NPR, and newspapers, you’d assume that everyone thought Israel was always wrong. Once again, the bias of the old media is exposed.

Elder later said that the American people’s outrage has changed the spending practices of the Red Cross and the attitude of the Catholic church towards towards pedophilia, but we haven’t been able to affect our government’s priorities.

Why do I think this is? (Glad you asked)

We give our money willingly to the Red Cross, and we choose to go to church, but taxes are a legal requirement. If the Red Cross and the church don’t respond to our desires, we can easily bankrupt them and empty the pews. If we could refuse to give our money to the IRS, we could use that to change policy.
