This is his blog, he could write whatever the fuck he wants. Yes this is two comments in a row, I was reading more of them. Just because someone doesn’t agree with your opinion doesn’t mean its uneducated. I for one have listened to various forms of music for many years and this is just garbage. I don’t want to listen to a 45 minute “jam” and kick a hackey sack around. Sorry, just don’t wan’t to do that.

Just because you dont understand something doesnt mean you have to hate it. Dave Matthews is a documented genius and so are is lyrics for the most part. Thom yorke even called daves lyrics genius. Oh but im sure all you dave haters probably hate radiohead as well for the same reason. You dont understand it. And “tihash”, most of his lyrics are about death, not sex. Matt moore looks like a mix of richard simmons and satan. If i looked like that id be pretty bitter too. And matt, the only thing worse than a stupid person is an opinionated stupid person. keep those uneducated opinons to yourself and get a fuckin haircut man. you may just find yourself with some friends

Dave Matthews’ lyrics are primarily juvenile, offensive, and perverse references to sex. I am not a prude, but I prefer to listen to music that has meaning more than just being an ode to a blow job.

Dave Matthews has one song, which they play over and over. Once is enough. Same mopey mush ad infinitum. It’s like Jackson Browne. He had one song “Doctor My Eyes” and the rest of his career was trying to ride the wave of that one flash in the pan.

Dave Matthews is like tofu. He runs the gamut all the way from A to B. Yawn. Precious Moments, brought to you by Hallmark. Go have a Starbucks, get a new tattoo, and twirl your dreadlocks before you go back to your cubicle. Boring. Yecch.

Damn. At first I couldn’t decide what to post. Everyone here is so passionate about their side of the arguement. They sound like musical experts. Maybe I should just listen. Can we just agree that what makes a good song is its effect on you? Does it make you feel good? Screw all this dissecting Dave’s musical prowess and voice quality. History has proven that some of the most favored memorable music of the past has been delivered by rough imperfect voices, and simple chords. Complexity and difficulty of composition doesn’t directly effect the resulting impact or value of the song when heard. Sure the height of DMB’s career may have been the 96/97 maybe 98 years. They’re getting older, it’s evident by a significantly slower-tempo and higher precision to the songs. To me, they seemed more likeable when they were alittle rougher and improvisational. But hey, this happens to every artist that keeps creating and actually lives long enough. All in all, he’s a better artist than the majority these days. Maybe that isn’t saying alot. Whatever, listen to songs and artists you like, that make you feel good.

Besides, most negative comments about DM are irrevelent, and posed by those who have some sort of axe to grind with their concept of typical dave fans. I for one am a fan that doesn’t appreciate his scene anymore, but still like most of the music he puts out.

Listen to music you like, save your aggressive/destructive music-critic tendencies for something better.
